How to Repair Bifold Door Top Roller Guide

If your bifold door replacement doors are squeaking, they probably need a little maintenance. You may have to clean, lubricate or adjust them. The problem could be caused by loose bolts at the top pivot or by the top guide roller.

Remove the Door

Installing an internal set of bifold doors may seem like an involved and complicated project but it's actually simple for anyone with a little experience. After removing the guide, test out your replacement by placing it in its new location and applying a few rotations of masking tape or a type of guide tubing to hold it in the correct position. This allows you to check the alignment of the guide and spacing to make sure everything is properly set up. Remove the Bottom Pivot

A new set of top roller guides is a cheap solution to a problem that can make bifold doors difficult to operate. They are typically available at the local hardware store in the door section. However they can also be purchased online from several suppliers. You will also need a squeeze-clamp and a small container Elmer's wood adhesive, which can be found in big box stores.
